Introduction

Welcome to my new blog about Nebraska football. I have been frustrated with reading several blogs and posting things that nearly mean nothing to other fans. Apparently I come off as too level-headed and my ideas are not mainstream or liberal enough. I am okay with that. If you don't like my comments there then I will just start my own blog and leave it out there for people to probably read and pass on their way to another blog. My goal here is to look at Nebraska football in a way that leans biased, but not afraid to criticize when I feel it is necessary. I will try to analyze each game and post a new topic each Sunday about Saturday's game. This year I will start off with two topics since it is already week two. The first topic should be short after the decisive win over Southern Miss. In fact, I am not sure if I will post anything yet. I am sure that my knowledge is not the greatest on football, but I do know a few things. My 'resume' is not long on football, but I did play in high school for four years. We were good. I know what it takes to win. Here is my football background: Freshman year: 8-0, key alternate on defensive line and offensive line. I also loved the kicking game so I actually did some of the place kicking and punting. Sophomore year: 9-3 Varsity team, League Co-Champs, Playoffs, played about two downs of football toward the end of the game. I did alternate on kickoff return team. As a member of special teams, I took my role very serious and I think it is one of the most exciting and invigorating action in football. (I will also discuss the 'changes' to special teams). 8-0 Junior Varsity, League Champs, Playoffs, I played every Saturday morning and hated the fact that I was on JV, but we were great and looking back; those were some of the best times I had ever had. Junior year: 14-1 Varsity, League Champs, Playoffs, Regional Champs, State runner-ups, I still played a lot of special teams. We were good enough that I did get in some toward the end of games as an offensive lineman. Senior year: 11-1 Varsity, League Champs, Playoffs, I started every game of my senior season and I worked my ass of to do so. We were great and could have been even better. We fell in 3OT to the eventual state champs. I was recruited by two NAIA schools and I decided that it was time to actually crack some books open and study. I also look at my brother-in-law and the back problems that he has. It was a pretty easy decision, I wasn't good enough to have back problems and surgeries for the rest of my life. I do admit that my 'resume' says that I did not play much football, but it doesn't always take just the experience to know how to play. I will end my introduction with the best 17 words ever etched on concrete: "Not the victory but the action not the goal but the game in the deed the glory." GBR
